Overview
Glue spraying on packaging paper is an essential process in packaging equipment. As packaging machines move toward high speed, full automation and intelligence, automatic glue spraying is increasingly adopted on machines such as C800 and ZB48. However, during production these machines are prone to missing-glue or no-glue defects for various reasons. Because these defects occur randomly, manual inspection simply cannot catch them, seriously affecting carton packaging quality and allowing defective packs to reach the market, harming the manufacturer's brand image.
In response, we designed an online glue-spray inspection device, the glue-spot vision inspection. Using image processing technology with2 high-speed cameras and LED illumination in a high-speed scanning configuration, it accurately detects packaging paper with missing or absent glue and rejects defective packs online. The system sequentially scans multiple groups of glue spots on the label paper to form a complete image, facilitating image storage, review and analysis.
Main Functions
The system performs two inspection jobs online, each with rejection.
Sequentially inspects the presence of glue spots on packaging paper
Sequentially inspects the quantity of glue spots on packaging paper
How It Works
When glue spots enter the camera's field of view, the LED illumination lights the inspection zone and the CCD camera continuously captures images of the packaging paper at a capture rate of at least 100 frames per second. Image signals travel through dedicated data lines and an image capture card into the controller's memory, where proprietary image-processing software executes the recognition algorithm to identify each glue spot, the core of the system.
If a defective glue spot is identified, the controller sends a reject signal to the C800 manual reject line, automatically ejecting the defective carton while normal cartons are unaffected. The controller also sends image data to the industrial PC for real-time configuration and query, and a human-machine interface allows operators to conveniently set and adjust image-processing parameters.
Applicable Machines
ZB48, G.D C800, X1 and X2, FK700 and more, available in soft-pack glue-spot and carton glue-spot versions.
